Setting
The detention is set in a cliché classic American high school, to be more specific Shermer High School, March 24th 1984.
Throughout the movie there was only one main setting, which was the library in the school, this is where the group spent most of there time. Most of the main event happened in the library, like when the group explained why they felt like outsiders, when they all put aside there differences and got along.
There were multiple different sub-settings though; out the front of the school when the ‘club’ are coming and leaving detention. When they escape the library and roam around the school they are at Benders locker and he pulls the weed out of the multiple paper bags. Whilst they are roaming around and hear Principal Vernon they all run around to more places then you can count. Bender tells the group to go back to the library, whilst he leads Vernon way to the basketball courts, this is an important scene because it shows Benders true colours and loyalty to his friends.
